After I had my son, I was totally in a fitness funk! I exercised while I was pregnant, but after I had him I was wrapped up in learning how to be a mom. Needless to say, my exercise routine went down to the bottom of my priorities. Fast forward a year and a half later and I knew that I had to get back on track and find easy ways to workout at home. Not only was I not exercising, but I wasn’t eating very well either!
After I gave birth I was always waiting for something before I could start exercising again. Waiting until I healed from my C-section, waiting until my son took longer naps, waiting to stop breastfeeding so I wouldn’t risk hurting my already low supply… I secretly hoped that after I stopped breastfeeding that the weight would fall off. It sure didn’t fall off while I was breastfeeding! I had heard stories of that happening for other women, but unfortunately it didn’t happen for me! The picture below is me at my heaviest after having my son.
My weight was going up and up and I knew I had to take action. Here are the exact things I did that helped me get out of my fitness funk and get started losing weight! If you have never worked out before or if you have been in a fitness funk like me, these are foolproof ways to workout at home!

Get Out of Your Fitness Funk – Easy Ways To Workout at Home
Working out at home is the easiest (and most affordable!) way to escape a fitness funk. There are so may different things you can do from home. There really is something for everyone and every fitness level. I started with a free online challenge and went from there!
Where to Start When You Want to Workout at Home
Once I reached the point where I knew I had to get back on track or I would be in serious trouble, I somehow stumbled across The Betty Rocker’s website. From there I found her 30 Day Make Fat Cry Challenge. This Challenge was exactly what I needed! I highly recommend it for learning easy ways to workout at home with no equipment needed. And the best part? You only need 15 minutes a day to do the workout. I definitely have 15 minutes a day to squeeze in a workout! Every day of the challenge Betty Rocker sends you an e-mail with the link to the daily 15-minute workout. Each workout has a different focus to mix things up (arms, legs, core, cardio, yoga, etc.).
The Make Fat Cry Challenge was just what I needed to get myself back in gear. Just doing the 15 minute a day workout totally got me back on track with my fitness. I was eating healthier and I even lost weight (just from working out 15 minutes a day)! These small wins were enough to make me want more! The Betty Rocker also has paid programs that you can sign up for when you finish the 30 day challenge. Her paid programs sound awesome (meal plans and workouts are included). I personally haven’t tried them, so I can’t say much more than that. 🙂
Learning to Eat Healthier and Upping Your at Home Workout Game
After I finished the Make Fat Cry Challenge, I wanted to up my game a little. So I bought the 21 Day Fix workout program. The program comes with food containers, a protein shaker bottle, an eating guide and some recipes, and seven 30-minute workout videos. The idea behind the program is that it takes 21 days to form a habit. So the creator of the program has you rotate through a workout a day for 21 days and provides guidance on what to eat. This program is amazing for all fitness levels. I especially love the guidance provided on what and how much to eat. That is so helpful for trying to lose weight!
The workouts are tough! The instructor always says that “there is nothing that you can’t do for a minute” (you usually only have to do one move for a minute each), but let me just say right now that that’s not true! Even after going through the program a few times, there are still things I can’t do for the full minute.
With that being said, I do highly recommend getting the 21 Day Fix if you are serious about losing weight or getting into shape. While the workouts are tough, the instructor always gives you ways to modify the workout whether you need something more or an easier modification, she works with you! The guidance on how much to eat and which foods to eat is also invaluable. There are definitely things I struggle with cutting out, and honestly just gave up on trying to avoid…dairy products and Splenda are the toughest for me! I just can’t get used to the taste of stevia in my coffee!
My Results with the 21 Day Fix
If you stick to the food plan and the workouts, you can lose up to 15 pounds in 21 days (per the workout packaging). I stuck to the food plan very well (I had little cheats (milk and Splenda – girl loves her lattes!) for my first round of 21 days and after two rounds I lost 10 pounds! I still have more to go, but I know if I get serious about the food plan again, I can definitely accomplish it.
The Most Important Thing
Now, even though I’m not at my goal weight yet, I feel so much better! My self-esteem has gone back up, my clothes fit better, and I feel more comfortable in my skin. Aren’t those the most important things after all? The picture below is me now!
I truly hope these ideas for ways to workout at home and get out of your fitness funk were helpful for you! If you have any questions about either of the programs I talked about feel free to reach out to me!
